The previous blogs have discussed our three-pronged approach to tissue regeneration. Whether you wish to recover faster and more successfully from surgery, have a fresh or chronic injury, or any other concern that needs regenerative therapy, this blog helps to explain the “how and why” behind these services. You do NOT need to be an active chiropractic patient to benefit from these services. Please call the office to start your path towards a speedy recovery and better overall health with any/all of the services we provide to help you.
1. Hyper-oxygenated blood
Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (Hbot) is a really unique approach. If you haven’t tried it, you should. Hbot is amazing for several reasons. In our office, we tend to use it most for musculoskeletal injury recovery (including faster surgical recovery), concussion recovery, and anti-inflammatory effects (people with conditions like Lyme really benefit from Hbot). It’s also highly effective for helping to prevent/reduce altitude sickness. It also offers so much more. For example, as was discussed in the last blog about Hbot, it has been shown to elongate telomeres, thus extending lifespan and aiding in tissue regeneration. So, we have many positive effects from Hbot. With our three-pronged approach to tissue regeneration, what we most want to derive from Hbot is the cellular oxygenation effect that dramatically improves a lot of
healing processes.
2. Pumping hyper-oxygenated blood to regions of injury/concern
NormaTec is a major player in tissue recovery. Seen now in most all professional sports locker rooms (and if it’s not there yet, it will be soon), NormaTec is unmatched with blood and lymphatic drainage issues. Period. The most common application of NormaTec is the “boots”, or long leg sleeves that go from the foot to the hip. We also offer the less seen hip/torso application and the shoulder to hand application. NormaTec is also used to help prevent the breakdown of proteins in tissues (proteolysis), and the tissue flushing has tremendous medicinal value. It can help to prevent Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT) following surgeries and it should be used following most any extremity surgery. The lymphatic and vascular pumping really helps to reduce swelling and dramatically increase nutrient rich (and highly oxygenated if paired with Hbot) blood through the surgical area. This leads to a faster recovery! With our three-pronged approach, what we most want to derive from NormaTec is the flushing effect of a specified region of hyper-oxygenated blood (when used in conjunction with prior Hbot). We must also consider that the entire vascular system is invigorated with NormaTec being used on any portion of the body. This is an incredible intervention. We are quite direct when we say that everyone should be using NormaTec post-surgery for any ankle, knee, hip, shoulder, or elbow repair. It’s “that” good!
3. Treat an area to reduce inflammation/pain and recruit stem cells to regenerate damaged tissue
SoftWave extracorporeal shockwave therapy (ESWT) is truly a revolutionary intervention. We use it for pain and inflammation reduction. It works immediately. This is an incredible effect, but SoftWave is so much more. After all, there are many medical interventions that reduce pain, although SoftWave does it without any medications/drugs/injections. SoftWave shockwaves work to bring stem cells to the treated area and there simply are not many other ways to do this. Period. SoftWave shockwaves are moving at a whopping 3300mph, and this speed enables them to deform cells. The cells compress with the initial shock wave and then expand. This has the effect of reducing oxidative stress at the cell level but more importantly, it tricks the cell into thinking it is injured. This trickery makes the cell release, among other things, cytoplasmic RNA (mRNA). This RNA is then identified by what are called Toll Like Receptors (TLR). In particular, TLR3 works to signal the immune system to attend to the problem and recruits stems cells to the area to aid in tissue regeneration. It is important to note that the regenerative effects work for weeks after the treatments whereas the pain/inflammation effect is immediate. SoftWave helps now…and later. We want to help not only with pain and inflammation, but also to fix the problem, long-term. SoftWave does this like nothing else. With our three-pronged approach, SoftWave is THE component that stimulates tissue regeneration at an accelerated rate. Remember that the FDA cleared SoftWave as having the ability for “tissue activation”. Give SoftWave a try for yourself and see just how powerful this treatment truly is. It’s nothing short of amazing.
Let’s Put This All Together…
So, our three-prong approach first oxygenates the body, then uses that oxygenated blood to bathe, flush, and bring in nutrients to specific areas of injured/recovering tissues, and finally, we use the unique SoftWaves to delete pain/inflammation and bring in corrective measures (stem cells) to fix an area, long-term.
We’d argue that there is no better way to treat and fix an injury or aid in post-surgical rehabilitation than with our three-pronged approach. This does beg the question: do we need to use all three modalities at one time, or can they be broken up?
They can most certainly be broken up as each one has its own incredible effect on the body. However, when paired together, their results are magnified and unmatched by anything else available.
We hope this blog helps to put our three-pronged approach together in an understandable format. Please contact our office and let us know how we may help you with your chiropractic or regenerative needs.
