When choosing a chiropractor, remember that the more skills the doctor has, the better the clinical outcomes.

Chiropractic care is unique in its assessment and application. The job of the chiropractor is to identify the cause(s) of your musculoskeletal condition and formulate a care plan so that you can recover as quickly as possible. Treatments include any and all of the following: chiropractic manipulation, soft tissue treatment, and rehabilitative/stabilization exercises.

The chiropractic manipulation is the foundation of chiropractic care. Manipulations are administered to joint complexes that have been identified as being ‘fixated’ or not moving properly. Allowing joints to remain in a ‘fixated’ state will ultimately lead to degenerative changes, soft tissue imbalances, dysfunction, and pain. Chiropractic manipulation involves applying a specific force to a joint complex (or complexes) to allow for better movement. This allows for more function and less pain. Manipulations can be applied through many different means. The type(s) of manipulations that are administered depends on individual patient needs.

Soft tissue treatment involves forms of manual therapy and modalities that are aimed at helping the muscles and ligaments work better so that they can best adapt to properly functioning joints as a result of manipulation. Some forms of soft tissue treatments/modalities include ultrasound, electrical stimulation, traction, trigger point therapy, cold laser, Graston TechniqueKinesio TapingDry Needling, and Active Release Techniques (ART).  Combined with chiropractic manipulation, soft tissue treatment helps ensure a fast recovery.

Rehabilitative/stabilization exercises are many times necessary to help the patient ‘hold’ the effects of chiropractic manipulation and soft tissue treatment. Whereas chiropractic manipulation in conjunction with soft tissue treatment will help to eliminate pain and restore proper function, rehabilitative/stabilization exercises will allow the patient to hold the corrections. Involving the patient in the care plan is important as chiropractic care should not be administered indefinitely. The patient should ultimately be reliant upon him/herself to maintain their progress. Such exercises allow the patient to do so.  Dr. Manison has the highest level training in this area of study and he continually learns so as to provide the best quality rehabilitation/stabilization protocols in the Columbia, Ellicott City (Howard County) region.

Note: Always check your insurance plan for benefits information and to see if we are listed as a provider. If you have any questions or concerns, please call our office at 410-964-3229 or contact us through the website. We verify insurance benefits as a courtesy for scheduled patients, but please note that insurance matters are always the responsibility of the insured. • Aetna HMO and PPO

  • Carefirst Blue Cross Blue Shield

At Columbia Advanced Chiropractic, LLC, the process of new patient care begins with your first contact. When you call us at 410-964-3229 to schedule your first visit, our helpful staff will answer any questions you may have. As a courtesy, we will verify your insurance benefits so have your insurance card handy. If you have any questions, please call and speak with Sam, the office manager.

Your first visit will include a full history of any problems you may be experiencing, as well as an examination and discussion of your particular condition and a suggested care plan. Our office is unique in that each patient is given a specific care plan to match his or her particular needs and health goals. Many times, only a few treatments are needed to rectify a problem. We schedule your appointments based on your individual needs.

Along with standard chiropractic care, you can expect one or more of several different types of techniques or therapies when you see Dr. Manison. Rehabilitative or stabilization exercises will be implemented for those patients who require them once the goals of initial care are reached. Some patients may not require rehabilitation or stabilization if they have a quick recovery from their condition. Others may require rehabilitation and/or stabilization if their condition includes joint and soft tissue instability.

We welcome you to Columbia Advanced Chiropractic, LLC and we are confident that you will receive the best quality chiropractic and rehabilitative care possible in the Columbia, Ellicott City, Howard County, and Baltimore region.
